Pink Desert

Djerba/Tatouine/Ksar Ouled soltane/Chenini

-Morning departure for the mainland via the Roman road.

-Arrival in Tataouine: visit the local market and taste gazelle horns, a regional speciality.

-Continue on to ksar Ouled Soltane, an ancient Berber granary with spectacular architecture.

-Lunch in Guermessa, followed by a visit to this hilltop Berber village.

-Visit to the magnificent village of Chenini, carved out of the mountain.

-Night in a gîte in Chenini.

Chenini/Ksar ghilane/Zmela

-After breakfast, departure for the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, between golden dunes and a natural hot spring.

-Optional activities: quad biking and camel riding (extra charge).

-Lunch at Ksar Ghilane, and departure for the Zmela camp, in the heart of the desert.

Before dinner, demonstration of traditional bread-making in the sand.

-Overnight in tents in the desert.

Zmela/Zrawa/Matmata/Toujene .

-After a hearty breakfast, departure for the ancient village of Zrawa, the setting for Jean Jacque Annaud's film "Black Gold".

-Lunch with the locals.

-Continuation to Matmata, famous for its troglodyte dwellings and "Star Wars" film location.

-Visit to Toujene, considered to be one of the most beautiful Berber villages in Tunisia.

-Return to Djerba
